Meet Abka Fitz-Henley

Abka Fitz-Henley is a multiple award-winning journalist who has been in the media business for over a decade copping over 14 awards in the process.

At 21 years of age, following his 1st year in media, Fitz-Henley was recognized with the Young Journalist of the year award from The Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) and in 2016 went on to cop one of the country’s highest recognized journalism prizes, the PAJ National Journalist of the Year Award.

He’s the final receipient of the the prestigious corporate Jamaica Broilers Fairplay 1st place Award for investigative journalism and is the recipient of the Caribbean Blog Award for coverage of the infamous Kartel murder trial.

Fitz-Henley is also the recipient of the PM Youth Award for Excellence for for several years won the Journalist of the Year award at NNN. Over the years, he has appeared as a guest on the BBC World Service and BBC London. …….

Fitz-Henley maintains a presence on social media, primarily via his twitter account @abkafitzhenley.

Fitz-Henley has served as Co-Host of the current affairs programme Nationwide: This Morning. He also served at as National Correspondent and supervisor of the Online Team. 

Over the years, Fitz-Henley has performed in the role of Senior Reporter, Chief Parliamentary Correspondent and News and acting-Production Editor at Nationwide. His primary areas of focus are court, crime, parliamentary proceedings and politics. 

Fitz-Henley was recently recognized in the regional celebrity magazine publication Panache as “The Breaking News Boss” which tracked his career and the initial years when he came to public attention after passing nine CXC’s at 12 years old.

Fitz-Henley is an avid sports fan who enjoys playing cricket, football and golf. He was born to a family known for giving distinguished service to Jamaica spanning several decades and in various fields including education, medicine, law, the peforming arts and media.
